Marshal Post 2

The wood is 1/8th inch (3mm) square. It came from a local model shop and cost 28 pence for 3 ft. It takes just under 3 ft for each marshal post. I cut the wood with a scalpel, but it took quite a lot of force (I even snapped one blade). I considered using my razor saw. It is important to mark, then cut one bit at a time when using the saw to allow for the thickness of the blade. I cut the bits as I went along as it allowed the last joint to dry after being glued.

I ensured the wooden frame was square by building it up on the card which I knew had right angled corners. I only measured some of the wooden bits using a ruler. The rest were marked out by putting the piece of wood over the gap then scribing a pencil line. I chose to simplify the design by using a flat roof. I used the cardboard from a food box, but I had to paint it a number of times as the pattern showed through. It may be better to use white card and leave the wood as is, eg don't paint anything.
